Malcolm MacColl Investment Manager, Managing Partner Malcolm is an investment manager in the Global Alpha Team. He has been involved in Global Alpha since the product’s inception in 2005 and this is his sole portfolio responsibility. He joined Baillie Gifford in 1999 and became a partner of the firm in 2011. In 2021 he became a managing partner with overall oversight for the investment department. Malcolm previously worked in the UK Small Cap and North American equity teams. He managed the North American portion of wider global portfolios while in the North American Equity Team. Malcolm graduated MA in Economics and History in 1998 and MLitt in Economics, Politics and Management in 1999, both from the University of St Andrews.

Ms. Xiong joined Baillie Gifford in 2008 and is a Partner and investment manager on the Global Alpha Team. In addition to Global Alpha, Ms. Xiong has spent time working on the Manager's Developed Asia, UK, North America, Emerging Markets and Global Equity Teams. Before coming to live and work in the UK, Ms. Xiong lived in China, South Africa and Norway. She graduated BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Warwick in 2007 and MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge the following year. Ms. Xiong has been a member of the team since 2021.

Brian Barbetta, Senior Managing Director, and Global Industry Analyst of Wellington Management, joined the firm as an investment professional in 2012. Mr. Barbetta has been involved in portfolio management and securities analysis for the technology portion since December 2017.

John P. Goetz, Managing Principal, Co-Chief Investment Officer, Portfolio Manager, and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Goetz is a co-portfolio manager for the Global, International, European, and Japan Focused Value strategies. He also previously served as the Director of Research and was responsible for building and training the research team. Mr. Goetz became a member of the firm in 1996.

Benjamin S. Silver, CFA, Principal and Portfolio Manager. Mr. Silver is a co-portfolio manager for the Global strategies and the U.S. Large Cap, Mid Cap, Focused Value, and Small Cap strategies. He is also a portfolio manager for Global Best Ideas. He previously served as co-Director of Research for 9 years. Mr. Silver became a member of the firm in 2001.

Caroline Cai, CFA, Managing Principal, CEO, Portfolio Manager, and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Ms. Cai is a co-portfolio manager for the Global, International and Emerging Markets strategies, and the Financial Opportunities service. Ms. Cai became a member of the firm in 2004.

Mr. Masdea, Vice President and Global Industry Analyst of Wellington Management, joined the firm as an investment professional in 2008. Prior to joining Wellington Management, Mr. Masdea was a managing director and the global head of semiconductor research at Credit Suisse from 1999 through 2008.

Michael Taylor is a Partner in Adam Street’s Co-Investment team and responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fund and its investments jointly with Mr. Goldrick and Ms. Zhang. Prior to joining Adams Street in 2012, Mr. Taylor worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as an Investment Banking Analyst within their Global Industrials Group, focusing on the automotive sector. Mr. Taylor received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School and BA from Amherst College.
