Joseph Higgins, CFA , is Managing Director and a portfolio manager for Nuveen’s global fixed income team. He is the lead portfolio manager responsible for the TIAA Bond strategy and a member of the Investment Committee, which establishes investment policy for all global fixed income products. Since joining the firm in 1995, he has held a variety of positions. He has managed structured credit investments and was an investment grade portfolio manager. In addition, he has served as director of private placements, international bank analyst, international investment grade portfolio manager and co-head of corporate credit research. Joseph initiated the first securitization and co-developed the first collateralized debt obligation (CDO) for TIAA. Prior to joining the firm, he was a certified public accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Joseph graduated with a B.S., magna cum laude, in Accounting with a minor in Economics from The State University of New York at Albany and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with dual concentrations in Finance and Marketing. He holds the CFA designation and he is a member of the New York State Society of Securities Analysts and the CFA Institute. He was also a founding member of the User Advisory Council of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).

Nicholas is a Managing Director and portfolio manager for Nuveen’s global fixed income team and leads the securitized sector team, which selects residential mortgagebacked, commercial mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities for all portfolios. He is also the co-manager of the Inflation-Linked Bond strategy and the Multi-Sector Bond strategy. Nick is also a member of the Investment Committee, which establishes investment policy for all global fixed income products. Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Nicholas worked for Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets, where he managed a $2 billion Agency MBS position within RBC’s proprietary trading unit. He also worked for Citigroup Global Markets, where he was responsible for positioning and trading Citi’s long duration CMO book. Nicholas began his career in portfolio management at Freddie Mac and entered the investment industry since 1997. Nicholas graduated with a B.S. in Commerce, with concentrations in Finance and Marketing, from the University of Virginia.

Katherine is a portfolio manager for Nuveen’s global fixed income team and the sector lead for emerging markets corporates and quasi-sovereigns and all developed markets quasi-sovereigns. She is the longest-tenured member of Nuveen’s International and Emerging Markets Debt team and serves as a portfolio manager for Nuveen’s suite of emerging markets debt strategies. Katherine joined the firm in 1997 and has held several roles relating to emerging markets debt including South American regional analyst, trader, manager for the firm’s investments in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions, and Asian and EMEA regional analyst. Prior to joining the firm, she was a fixed income securities analyst at MONY Capital Management and a financial analyst at Mattel Toys. She was ranked as one of the Top 20 female portfolio managers in the United States by Citywire Professional Buyer magazine in 2019 and 2018.Katherine graduated with a B.S. in Economics and a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the Columbia Business School at Columbia University.

She joined Nuveen Asset Management in 2001 and has worked on investing in corporate private placements, project finance, lease finance and investment-grade public debt offerings across a variety of industries. Since 2009, she has been a member of Nuveen Asset Management’s leveraged finance team and was previously a senior research analyst responsible for covering the gaming, leisure and retail industries. She also oversees the risk and analytics function for Nuveen Asset Management’s global fixed income team. She is a member of Nuveen Asset Management’s Investment Committee, which establishes investment policy for all global fixed income products. She graduated with a B.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. She holds the CFA designation, is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts.
