Mark Syn, CFA, is an investment officer and portfolio manager at MFS Investment Management® (MFS®). He is a member of the portfolio management team of the firm's Global Real Estate strategy. He is responsible for final buy and sell decisions, portfolio construction, risk and cash management, and he participates in the research process and strategy discussions. He also has research analyst duties following global real estate securities. He is based in Singapore. Mark joined MFS in 2018 as a research analyst and was named a portfolio manager in 2022. He was previously a managing director at Wellington Management, serving for ten years as a coportfolio manager and analyst. Prior to this, he was an executive director at Goldman Sachs, serving as a portfolio manager and analyst for eight years. He began his career in the financial services industry in 1997, working for one year as a corporate banking relationship manager at Citibank before returning to school for his second master's degree. Mark earned a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from London Business School and a Master of Engineering degree in civil engineering with First Class honors from Imperial College, London. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
